As a journalist, we often forget that we are humans and that sportsmen are too, with days when they are at their best and on the other hand they are at a low level, with families and responsibility other than sporting.
We are expected to give information without giving personal we need to be impartial.
Today it one of those days where I refuse to be a journalist, I just want to be human, I want to be a fan.
Kobe Bryant is a legend of the Los Angeles Lakers the Franchise, the city, but above all a legend of basketball and sport in general.
Born in Philadelphia in the United States of America on august 23rd of1978, he started his career as a professional basketball player in 1996 with the Lakers whose colors he defended for 20 years; first with the number 8 and then with the number 24 with which he will withdraw in 2016.
During his career he established records including the famous 81 points in a single match of playoff, he won many individual and collectives trophies among which: five NBA champion titles, two NBA Finals MVP, one NBA MVP, eighteen appearance at all stars games, and had his two jersey number 8 and 24 retired from Lakers.
He was a Son, a Husband, a Father but for the millions of basketball fans who are crying around the world because of his death, he was a Hero, an example of professionalism for all sportsmen, a man full of self-confidence who devoted himself fully to the sport he loved and to the fan who relied on him.
And for me growing up in a family with six brothers; sport, mainly football, and basketball helped me to connect with them, to have a conversation with my brothers, create a relationship with them, integrate me into their world and this is how in 2007 at 15 I fell in love with the Los Angeles Lakers of Kobe Bryant and the Celtics Boston of Kevin Garnett as well as with Real de Madrid.
His jersey number was 24 as to how many times per day you have to work to make your dreams come true and be happy.
From today and in memory of him, I will live now without fear of what may happen tomorrow and with the intention of silencing the noises around me.
